ONLINE CLASSES are being conducted via Zoom. We will email you a Zoom registration link after you complete our online registration. Not every class listed below will be offered online (in person is always preferable for the acting division classes). These are classes that have been adapted for a rich online experience when we do offer them.

 Monologue Study

This class fulfills Monologue Study prerequisites. Students will work on monologues, incorporating and deepening the concepts from Intro. Script analysis and other tools to create a powerful monologue acting technique. All levels of students and professional actors welcome.  Prerequisite: Intro to Acting or interview/approval of Director.

Do you sometimes leave an audition and feel you didn’t make an impression? Do you ask yourself, “I wonder if I’ve chosen the wrong material”? Are you new to acting and aren’t sure how to go about selecting a monologue and how to approach working on it? Are you an experienced actor, but feel you need to update your material?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, then Monologue Study is the right class for you.

It’s a class designed for all levels with time devoted to each student individualizing the instruction. The teacher will not only help you choose material that will show you at your best but will also guide you step by step through the process of interpreting the material. The goal of Monologue Study is for each student to finish the class feeling confident about their choice of material and the quality of their work.

Playwriting

This course has moved permanently to online. MULTI-LEVELED.Do you have a story you need to tell?  Do you have an idea that has been percolating in your head for awhile that you’ve wanted to put on the page? Or do you simply want to dabble in the world of dramatic writing? Whatever your writing level, this six week online class is for you.  Through our weekly ZOOM classes, we will explore topics such as structure, dialogue, conflict and character development.  All of which are the building blocks that will help you craft your own new play. Whether you want to write one-acts or full-lengths, ten-minute plays or musicals, this class will help give you the tools to finish that script and see your work live on stage in front of a live audience.

Dramatic Action

Offered as a true hybrid class, Dramatic Action is held at the studio with the option for distanced students to zoom in.

An essential class for the actor who wants to be at ease with task work on camera and stage!  Bring that undeniable truth to behavior and discover an invaluable tool when learning scripts and developing character.

This popular class is often repeated at all levels. Repeating students receive deep discounts.

Directing

This course has moved permanently to online. Join us from wherever you may be. Learn how to approach a script as a director, work with actors, develop a vocabulary to get results.  At least Intro to Acting is required for this course, and we encourage aspiring directors to take as many acting classes as possible. Those who have taken this class may be offered the opportunity to direct scenes/plays that are part of our regular Fridays at the Studio offerings. Past students from this class are now directing regionally and in NYC and hail the techniques learned at ATC as intrinsic and invaluable to their directing process.

Voice Acting (Voiceover)
This course has moved permanently to online. The voice-over actor will learn techniques on interpreting copy, decoding the writer’s cues to the artist, telling a story rather than announcing, finding your objective, learning to make fast adjustments to direction, and so forth. This is an intensive script-based, at-the-microphone course.  Prerequisite: At least Intro to Acting.
